ERIC K. LERNER is a writer and artist. As a writer, he is author of "Santeria's Healing Path" which appeared in the Spring/Summer 1999 issue of Shaman's Drum and the books: Babalu Aye: Santeria and the Lord of Pestilence (Original Publications, 2000) and AIDS Crisis in America (ABC-Clio, 1999). His work as a commercial illustrator has appeared in a wide variety of publications, including the March 24, 2000 issue of Science Magazine. As a fine artist, Lerner mixes conventional and digital media.

I am a santero, a preist of Obatala. I support myself reading tarots. In 2001, City Paper voted me "Best Psychic." While I don't really believe in competition among diviners (or artists for that matter), it's always nice to get a compliment on your work. Most of the drawings were done in a combination of watercolor pencil and pen and ink. Some of the backgrounds were generated by computer and then tweaked by hand. "The Hermit" is a mixed media collage.
