to the artist bios page Edward Preater gallery images My full name is Edward Preater, I live in Taunton, Somerset, U.K.. I was born here in 1974. I have grown up in an arty background; My father has made his living carving wooden statuary for the catholic church. I graduated from Edinburgh University in 1998 with a degree in History of Art but I also spent three years at Edinburgh College of Art. Education never ends I remain committed to continually furthering my knowledge in the hope that my understanding of the world around me will also evolve. Despite my parents ardent Christian faith, I have preferred to investigate the hermetic element of the Western Tradition, in particular the relationship between the tarot and the Kabbalah. I work a day job in technical firm where I etch metals with acid and electroplate gold and nickel (though I dream of transmuting base metals into gold!). With art I have decided to go wherever my whimsy takes me and if other people derive some pleasure from it then so much the better. .
